Wildlife in Karnataka

Bandipur
Bandipur National Park, is one of the largest national parks in India (and is strictly tiger country). The park, along with Mudumalai and Mutunga wildlife sanctuaries, constitute the nilgiris (blue mountains) biosphere. In fact, they constitute the same forest, but are called by different names as they fall under different state territories.

Bandipur, along with Mudumalai and Mutunga, provides you an experience that is as wild as it can get. The earlstwhile hunting grounds of the Maharajas’ of Mysore, this national park is now classified under ‘Project Tiger’. Herds of wild elephants, leopards, bears and other animals are encountered by most tourists. But if luck favours you, you might just catch a glimpse of the elusive apex predator - tiger, and there are quite a handful of them in this forest range. Also located close to the ‘queen of hills’ – Ooty, Bandipur and its surrounding areas are on the itenary of most visitors to the south. Well, there’s a lot more to share, but we’d prefer you see it for yourself!

Average cost for 2N/3D’s package for a couple would cost anywhere from Rs 6000 – Rs 12,000 which includes A/C Cab Fare, DBL A/C room with all meals.

Rajiv Gandhi National Park
More popularly known as Nagarhole (land of snake-ing rivers), this park, according to some experts, is among the thickest jungles in Asia. Located in Coorg district, but connected to the larger Bandipur range, Nagarhole offers arguably the best Indian wildlife experience. This is clearly not human territory, hence, entry into the park is highly regulated and nature lovers cannot afford to give Nagarhole a miss.

On the southern fringes of the park flows the Kabini River and is the watersource for a variety of animals. Words cannot explain a visit to this place, but this might be a feeble attempt at trying to explain - Kabini River Lodge (one of the few places that offer accommodation here) is rated by the British Tatler’s Travel Guide as one of the top 5 wildlife resorts in the world!

Average cost for 2N/3D’s package for a couple would cost anywhere from Rs 6000 – Rs 12,000 which includes A/C Cab Fare, DBL A/C room with all meals.
